Why do we let what other people say about us have so much affect on our life?
What right do they have to measure our worth?
Really we are taught from a young age to value what others say. We want our parents to reward us for good behavior, we want our teachers to praise us, our peers to like us, our superiors to appreciate us. The need to please the people around us follows us from childhood all the way to adulthood.
When are we taught to value what we have to say? It’s hard to do, believe me I know, but when we put our own thoughts first life becomes so much simpler. Stress melts away. insecurities vanish.
I guess what I’m trying to say is try to ignore that little voice in your head that says you have to impress the people around you. What you do isn’t for them, it’s for you. So today do something to impress yourself, blow your own damn mind.
